How the Password Generator works

Randomity and privacy
The generator works in the browser and uses the Web Crypto API. The password is not sent by this page or saved in the history of the generator.
The tool does not check that the password was previously used or leaked, and does not evaluate the requirements of a particular service.
Character selection
You can choose small and capital letters, digits and symbols. Instead of dividing a random number by the size of the alphabet, the generator rejects an excess draw range (reject sampling) to not enter a modulo bias.
Length and clipboard
The result is hidden by default. You can copy it without revealing it. Changing the settings removes the previous result; the “Clean Password” button removes it and preserves the settings. Leaving the page also clears the result.
Longer, unique passwords are usually a better choice. The copied value can remain in the clipboard history and JavaScript cannot guarantee that it is erased from memory. Use password manager to store.
